About Me

My name is Julie Thatch, and I'm YOUR Concierge Teacher!  My journey began as a little child playing school.  I went on to attain my B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Management from Simpson University in Redding, CA.  I loved Business but teaching called to me more and more, so I went back to Simpson to achieve my Graduate level California Teaching Credential.  My husband and I moved to the great state of Alaska in 2008 where I was promptly hired by the Anchorage School District to teach. Since then, I have enjoyed teaching 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Grades at the marvelous Klatt Elementary and then the fabulous Inlet View Elementary.

Over the course of my 13 years teaching for the Anchorage School District, I have had considerable experience teaching the Common Core Standards, National Geographic's Reach for Reading, GoMath, Houghton Mifflin Language Arts, and EveryDay Math.  Efficiently adapting to new  curriculum is a forte of mine, so never fear if your child uses a different curriculum.

No two children are the same, and therefore it's imperative that a teacher be able to cater to each child's individual needs, whether they be academic, social, or behavioral.  As a result, I have devoted my professional development the past 8 years to taking Graduate courses in Behavior Management.  I have successfully completed enough units to earn the status of Master's Equivalent.

Travel is my greatest passion, so when my husband and I are not working, we are either planning our next adventure or on it!  We strive to visit as many places around the world as possible and have visited 29 countries so far.
